|Eric Birkett notes: |
Barbara Birkett's recollection: Grandmother, Barbara Dunn Wright, who married Alexander Sweet in 1870, was a teacher in Newcastleton, Roxburghshire, 19 miles SW of Hawick. She has a friend Miss Robinson, also a teacher, and another Jane Gray (possibly also a teacher) from Dundrennan. Jane Gray became my father's mother. When my father left home to become an apprentice in Paisley (aged 16), Miss Robinson suggested he visit the Sweet family at Braehead, Cathcart. That was how he met my mother.
