Notes

In the 1871 census, Catherine is living with her husband John but shows her age as 38 when she should be 45 which is John's age. John is described as Partener (? ). Living with them are his nephew George Fyfe, sister-in-law Ann Sweet (Dressmaker) and brother-in-law Wallace G Sweet Assistant Minister both of Renfrewshire , Cathcart. But Wallace and Ann are cousins.
Dr Smith, who married the couple, went on to be the moderator of the Church of Scotland and was also a close friend of Alexander Sweet. In Cathcart church there is a portrait of Dr Smith given to the church by Alexander and mentioned in his will.(PMS hasseen the portrait)
